The Finishing Process

Unless otherwise requested, General Finishes Milk Paint is used. After trying many other types of paint, we’ve found it to be the most durable, producing the prettiest finish and the easiest to work with. We love it so much, we also carry it in our booths at The Pickle Patch in Sylacauga, Alabama and Angel’s Antique Mall in Opelika, Alabama.

After the furniture is finished, the real work begins.

  1. First, heavy sanding
  2. Stain
  3. Light sanding
  4. Paint
  5. Distressing if desired
  6. Light sanding
  7. Wax or polyurethane
  8. Light sanding
  9. More wax or poly
  10. Light sanding

Ricky prides himself on his finish, and rightly so. It’s smooth as butter. Your tabletop will have enough protection that you won’t be afraid of getting it wet.
